How to change "email notifications"

Dear Subscribers,

One of the things I never want to do is bother you or add to your frustration. Except I can’t fix this and I’m uncertain if “the fixes/choices will fix this.”

Like me, if you can’t stand opening your email box because everything in it annoys you..

… you are welcome to take me out of your email box without unsubscribing — because it is the No. 1 reason why people unsubscribe (of which is probably happening right now with this email) and I think that’s a bit unfair to the writers and artists here. Sadly, we have no choice in the way our stories, etc., reach you. I can’t change the way I publish on Substack — it naturally goes to anyone that signs-up —> (to your email) — “if you chose that type of notification.”

I, too, am subscribed to several Substack’s which I initially chose not to be notified via my email when they publish new pieces. The problem for me right now is my customized “Substack” notification choice goes against the Substack algorithm, which they changed on me — so I no longer see my subscriptions/friends. <insert upsidedown emoji>

I could switch back to email notifications vs “the manual list” of subscriptions I have jotted down to keep up with this nonsense (which is actually the easiest way).

We are always one step ahead or behind robots and corporate sellouts — dumping us into the abyss. It’s an exhaustion that screams “please pick me up and take me to the clover fields, in the middle of nowhere, with no internet. Let me talk to the bees.”

I’ll be waiting outside on the curb. I need a fairy godmother.

Honestly, I’d rather have an artist/writers meetup in my home. But…

P.S. To clarify again - you can keep your subscription in order to read - however you have a “choice” about how you will be notified — or not.

P.S.S. Just found out Substack has been conflating “the choice to not get an email notification” with “unsubscribing” - and have unsubscribed many people from its system 🙃🤦‍♀️

They have fixed it 🙏🏻 apparently.

UPDATE: (10:30pm 6/27) Might not be fixed 😩
