It’s not often you see a city mayor as engaged, and diverse in interests, as Mayor Paul S. Leon, from the City of Ontario, California. On top of his extensive background, Mayor Leon, and his wife Cheryl, have served as pastors of Hope Chapel, in Ontario, Ca., for 17 years.
But wait! there’s more!
As Mayor Paul Leon’s Facebook page stated this past Saturday, “I will see you tonight at our Rockestra concert!! Join five rock superstars and our very own Southland Symphony Orchestra putting heavy metal rock music to Orchestra. This is gonna be a great time tonight. Meet me at 6:30 at Ontario town Square be there or B Square.!! "
Seems the mayor is a HUGE metal fan with some very cool friends in the business.
And this is why I’ve been hearing some metal coming from my husband’s music room lately as one of the double bass players for Southland Symphony (a pretty decent electric bassist, as well, if I don’t say so myself ). He’s on the right side — in both videos — in back, with the big neck sticking up :)
Since I had spent quite a bit of time working events for the city, in the past, I threw a kit on my back , doubled up as bass-wife roadie, and took my rusty body out to the playing field.
Music on both videos: Southland Symphony, Ontario, Ca
With Musicians: Oz Fox - guitar/vocals (Stryper) August Zadra - guitar/vocals ( revised Styx tracks for Tommy Shaw who left the band in the 80's. After the symphony concert, August flew out to join Electric Light Orchestra on tour ) Jerry Montano - (death metal) basisst --> known for Danzig: Circle of Snakes (2004) and Nothing to Lose: A Stephen Pearcy Rockumentary (2021 Tim Yeung - (death metal) drummer - interesting interview Shaye Fenholt Leeper - lead vocals It never ceases to amaze how genuine and nice the heavy metal rockers are. They do life their way and I appreciate it (a lot). Huge shoutout to Mayor Leon, Sylvia Lee Mann, Director of the Southland Symphony, the entire orchestra and special guests. Saturday night did not disappoint. Amazing. I didn't take many videos, but here's Shaye with some of Alanis Morissette's "Uninvited," one of my favorite songs. I think I wore my Jagged Little Pill c.d. out and had to buy another.90's mom in the car on repeat.Oh, btw, I also took Shaye's co-vocalist out of the video -- the most annoying little cricket. My tenacious adventures in "sound" continue. Hey brother -- now I need a "Tenacious D" trucker hat! (hint hint)
"I really don't care what you think of me. I'm more concerned about what God thinks of me" — Oz Fox - Twitter August 2024
