Oh awesome! It's such fun music! Takes me back. I love how music does that. We travel directly to a place we have been, a memory. So cool. Thank you so much for your kind comment. I hope this finds you well! I am on a mini-holiday/visit with my best friend - so hope to get back at it here soon! ox
Thank you so much Jamie! I can go a bit deep in my traveling mind :). Much of our life is tied in with all that surrounds us. I love how music, people, art, life lessons, are all part of it. ox
Thank you for sharing this beautifully written piece, Deborah! Keep celebrating those unique, rebellious spirits – they're what make the world interesting!
It is our life! Living to create and creating to live! ❤️ Thank you so much for reading and your kind comment. I'm doing good. At the airport and heading to see my bestie! It's been too long. ox
I have the joy and delight of babysitting a five-year-old little girl for a few hours every evening while her parents finish their work. She loves the Trolls soundtrack, Which features many familiar pop songs from the past decades, all done over to make them new again. A modge-podge of pop music. Last evening I heard one of the tracts for the first time. I recognized the sound Khachaturian and he’s always been one of my favorite classical composers. It’s a coincidence today you are talking about them in your post. I know so little about him, so I’m happy you shared some history. Fabulous piece Deborah! Music feeds are soul, and memories are reignited by old past favorites.
you are so kind and cool to do that! My granddaughter just had a Trolls #3 birthday party in March 😅 That soundtrack is on repeat! 🥰 as we jump on the trampoline 🙃
And that's amazing you heard Khachaturian!!! It was the most complicated piece for cello. John plays double bass. I've never seen him practice so much (nor have I seen him yell at himself 😭)
So many of the same themes tie together from history to now. My mind was spinning at what I was taking in for a few weeks (played Mayer while cleaning skunk smell for two days! 😅)
And such an amazing coincidence that I would come across Khachaturian twice within a short amount of time! First the troll music the second your post.
Randy is a musician so I think your husband and Randy would connect well. Although Randy is not classically trained. He learned music at his own self-taught music school, Lol! Often when he talks to him train musicians he has no clue about Terminology, but understands music theory when he’s composing his songs. He just doesn’t know it it’s a little cold. Lol!
We bought a double base to put in one of our videos. Randy can play it enough to perform it for short it’s like a video. I love the instrument when I hear it in a trio or a small band. It has a wonderful deep bass drums can’t provide.
Great piece illustrating how music frames the moments of our lives. Generally speaking, isn't it amazing how many memories one song, even one line from a song, one riff of the music can take us right back in time?
Thank you Lee! Means a lot coming from you 🙌🏻 It's so true! Music takes us right back to the place. It's so real. It's probably a huge part of why we naturally love music. It's a gift. ox
Deborah ❤️you are magical. I’ve send you a message, because your won’t believe how your words is wildly synchronistic! And yes music and art are life!!!
Just beautiful, Deb. Told and woven as only you can tell and weave, the moments and things that bring you inspiration and joy. And of course your beautiful photos throughout. Thank you for the wonderful post ❤️
Thank you so much Jenn! The last two weeks had resounding themes from history to now - and yet always hopeful. I pondered on it all - It was fun to write! I was listening to Mayer while cleaning skunk! 😅 Asking, what happened to him? and how much I loved that time and those kids and my past too. Then all the music that's not mainstream or was hidden - in history - the power struggles. Thank you for your support and kindness 😘🩷
It’s amazing the things your mind wanders to while doing tasks that don’t involve your engaged brain. It is the only saving grace when house cleaning 😂.
You’ve outdone yourself again With this derailed history of sub-culture cool… music and singers and lyrics oh my! I love the way you research and weave it into your family life, your passion for music and the arts, the poetry songwriters give, a glimpse into life at each decade of our lives. You are so creative as you bring it all together in the youth and culture of today! Beautiful essay my sweetest frirnd, thanks for the music! 🎶🎵and the memories from the way back! Have an awesome getaway… somewhere fun to capture photos and a story to tell! 🥰💕🙌Well done! Cheers!
Dear Joan!!! Thank you so very much for your support and love! You keep me going! I don't deserve such great compliments!
