Amazing personal story and your forever powerful connection with your dad through racing. I’ve been watching since childhood thanks to my dad as well, it’s a great passion. For my bday my wife got my Max Verstappen 1/3 size helmet replica from his site haha.
I'm overwhelmed you read this! and we do have so much in common! Thank you 🙏🏻 I feel very blessed your beautiful Lighthouse post came up in my recommendations! How about that! As I climb out of the valley God knows what and who I need along the way.
..and ha ha! a Max helmet to display!! I see those 1/3 size on display in the F1 offices! Wonderful! I collect beanies and trucker hats and I'm about to make a move on an F1 ! 😭
Yess! I'm so excited! I wish I had sat down and watched with my dad more often. Oh I will definitely listen to your F1 story! I am grabbing lunch soon and will also be heading to your Substack to explore ☺️
I love it! He will hold these memories with you forever.
I think this is all my husband and I talk about lately! 😭 I sat our 6 year old grandson down with me (who LOVES Mario, builds 10+ up Legos) and showed him some top 10 moments during F1. I said this is the real deal! He was glued!
A few years ago my husband showed him Danny MacAskill videos and at the same time (different moments with him) I was playing him Classical music.
One day in the car he asked me to play McClassical music 😅
The longer dad is gone, the more I not only yearn for five more minutes, I appreciate him beyond the words I write. We carry him in our hearts. Us British do love driving 🚙💨 Love you little brother! ox
Ah Deb again you stirred some memories about Driving. My stepdad taught me to drive by when I asked him to take me to My best friends house he informed me I was driving, A manual Stick in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Now if you have never been to Vicksburg. You may think it's claim to fame is the civil war. Mostly because of hills and Bluffs. EVERYWHERE actually It is not only "The Red Carpet City of the South." But they call it the "Hill City" So driving a Manual shift with a clutch is Horrible and guess where I learned to drive? Fort Hill and The HUGE 5 block hill coming up from the Mississippi River. later I became "the one who can drive a stick" Lol. Amazingly, There aren't many of us these days. and out of 4 kids only 2 of us can, My older Brother Wes and I. I even have a bad scar from my carpel tunnel release on my right hand because right after Surgery My ex and I were coming back from Memphis and he got sick and couldn't drive, It was a stick and I was the only one who could drive it, Of course slamming it into 3rd gear busted my stitches LOL. Your dad was a great man and made sure His girl was set. It should be a given that everyone knows how but It got lost like so many good things from the past. Thanks for stirring up memories and I plan to watch your or John's Netflix suggestion. oxoxox
"...and guess where I learned to drive? Fort Hill and The HUGE 5 block hill coming up from the Mississippi River."
‼️ This is a great driving story Linda! Talk about wow 😯 and busted stitches to boot! geeze!!!
Thank you for sharing your stories and personal experiences! I feel so rewarded and blessed reading them. You're right! Everyone should know how to drive a manual car! Thank you for your love. We live through the family we keep right there in our hearts, perfectly imperfect. Love you Linda! ox
Hey Deb. This brings back lots of good memories of learning to drive stick in our family’s blue Rambler. Good thing, too, as automatics in Ecuador are hard to come by. Also lived in Mexico City in the late 80s and drove VW buses, even running out of gas in a tunnel. Oh, the stories. Thanks for the car and Dad memories. OX
I'm giddy reading "blue Rambler," Mexico City and VW Buses!!! Our first family car was my John's '79 VW Bus! and it stalled a lot!! With two little ones, at the time, I was often seen running with it, and jumping in for the jumpstart! One day with the third child in tow and nearly getting blown by a heavy wind into a freeway overpass railing we decided to get a Suburban!!! lol! That's another story of two kids with hardly any money, three little ones and a dealership manager who told us to come back when we were serious. We were. He judged us so poorly and what John did next was amazing...
We could probably share car stories all day. Maybe we can someday, that would be fun! I just listened to your podcast # 7 where you talked about Linda and me. Hey, I'm only 10 months late, better late than never, right!?! I left a comment there, in case you want to check it out. Sending blessings and prayers. Ned
Ned! We could definitely talk for hours! and my goodness no worries! You are a busy person! It has dawned on me that I haven't been on the Walton's Forum and I feel terrible! Sometimes I am overwhelmed by all the places to check in! I will definitely check in soon. So many kind people over there! I got your newsletter and will look forward to reading it! Prayers & blessings back to you! oxox
