Thank you so much Jenn! I enjoyed writing it and fussed over it so much as my first story here 😅 It was fun to take my habit of mental "escape" into a real story. You would love Circa Old Houses! Great fun! So many stories in these old homes! Have a great weekend! (I'm slow. Struggling with a very bad episode in my shoulders 😔). My normal pushing through got me. Rare.

Sending you my love. oxox

Oh no, Deb, I’m so sorry to hear you’re not doing well and in pain! I will pray for you to feel better soon. Sending you an icy hug 🧊🧊🧊. And please, no apologizing. I am actually way behind as well 😂. Life has me swamped at the moment! I will have to check out Circa old houses, I do like stuff like that. Feel better and have a great weekend ❤️

Wonderful story, and didn’t know those details about the Hearst family. Their home was a beautiful Victorian, so thank you for the photo and poetic tour. I’ve been to Hearts Castle countless times. When we lived on the coast my parents would take every visitor from out of state. We were the cousins who moved out west. So every summer we often receive family visitors.

Beautiful writing Deborah, I loved this one! ✨💜✨🤗

Thank you Charlotte!! We took British company there too! So fun! I really appreciate your generous compliment! I was so worried to post my first story. Exciting and nerve-racking - but there was no real following or community when I started. It’s nice to get some feedback. Sending you much love. ox

This is such an incredible story and so well described it triggers memories of our family's journey through life as we came to America. Well worth reading more than just once.

Thank you so much mom. I remember pouring my heart into it. I love history and still look at the old homes all around the country. The stories are so interesting.

You have always been my biggest cheerleader. I love you. ox

This is beautiful. I have regrets not telling my dad how much I loved him. I was out of town when he died unexpectedly. Today was his birthday. I think he knew and still knows my heart.

Thank you Monica for reading it and for your comment. So heartfelt. I am so sorry you were out of town, but I’ve learned that God’s plans aren’t ours and life can do this. We can’t feel guilty about it. I know regrets are normal. Maybe your dad went like mine, when he finally felt like he could without anyone there. It was so hard to know this, but when I looked hard at my dad, he was that man. He didn’t want us to watch him go. We had been with him every single day in hospice saying all that needed to be said. He waited for specific people, I know. And when one, in particular, didn’t come - I think he made peace and went. It broke me, but then it breaks the living. Happy birthday to you papa in heaven. He knows you and watches over you. oxox

“I wish I had spent more time asking him about his life instead of wanting him to initiate a poetic conversation with me about mine.” - wow I felt that!!!! Beautiful
