Thank you,for asking. My creative self has been choked for so long, I'm going in several directions at the same time. Hopefully the compass needle settles. True North > Music calls. Again like a siren call. Writing and sketching are clearing the path to pick up my 10,000 lb. violin.
I can completely relate. I never thought I'd get back up and one day I did like a force of nature speaking to me, giving me ideas, a name for my Substack. It was supernatural. One of those events that most people wouldn't believe - but it was true. I had been searching old historical homes everyday, as if I was gone and living in one for over two years, like an addiction, something I clung to, while trying not to want to die. My first story was given to me in such a deep way. I am so happy to be here now and the hard things, I have no control over, are other people's stories. I have my own story, you have your own story and yours is the most important. For all who are in our story, the ones that intentionally or unintentionally hurt our hearts and drive our purpose out of us.... that's their story. Our story is to keep writing it and living the purpose that was given directly to us. I pray you pick up that violin that feels too heavy right now and I'm so happy you are writing and sketching your way forward.
Absolutely loved this one - especially this stanza: "Give me oxygen of music / fill my space with place and time / That I might breathe without screens / as there are mountains to climb." WOW.
Thank you so very much Nishad! I have been having trouble breathing with a terrible bronchial infection and this came to me at the beginning of feeling rough. Better now. I think we are all trying to breath through our days both physically and mentally. ox
Thank you Jenn! We are an odd couple in the way that we often find ourselves speaking two different languages (which can get us into trouble) and yet it's the art/music that is our saving grace. We are blessed to be passionate about these things. I can feel it in your words and art that it means so much. We love exploring it and what others are doing just as much :)
My friend! Isaiah 40:31 is my Verse! It's my favorite one that is not Psalms or Proverbs. and you know That It should just be the double bass players playing alone. Got to hear that Bass! lol but I do love good classical music reminds me of playing in the band in school. We even learned a few top 40 for football games and pep rallies. I wont blow up your comments this time with band memories lol. love you. Stay Blessed and Breathe. oxoxoxo
Oh my friend! I love that Isaiah 40:31 is your verse! and wouldn't it be amazing to see a double bass classical solo!! Seeing orchestras do remind me of the good old days of having band in school. I loved to listen to our "band geeks!" (remember? that's what they got labeled! so wrong!!) If being a geek is playing, reading or loving to listen to orchestra music, then call us geeks! I also loved the marching band, the drum line, football and the rallies! Remember when Fleetwood Mac did Tusk?!!! Soooo good! Thank you again for reading and your kindness! I am struggling with a bad cold again (from the little "bio weapons" as John fondly calls them - lol) and I had to get my inhaler out yesterday, hence this post :) oxox
Dear Jenni, thank you for taking the time to look and for your kind comment! I LOVE how our love for beautiful music can be passed on and look how far your brothers went with it! Wish I could see their trio!! My little brother told me recently that it was me that introduced him to some really great music and I had no idea I was doing what my dad always did! We are 6 yrs apart. Then I'd plug stuff in as I drove my youngest to kindergarten and tell him the "story of my life and that song" and he ended up having his dad transpose stuff for double bass and signed them up for the elementary talent show (they did it every year!) He went onto an art high school and was in theater conservatory! This is also why we write!! Fun stories to lay down for our family!!! oxox
Symphony, amazing! Lovely words as well.
Thank you so very much Ginger! Hope you're doing well 🙏🏻😘

Give me the salty ocean breeze
Devoid of smog so I can breathe .
