Thank you Charlotte. I don't know how I stumbled onto this and had never read it. I got quite emotional. To think of the time it was written. The lament of the tree. The dream of the man. The poet. During such deeply hard times, as they are now, for many, writing from the tree's perspective as if the man had to know how it felt by the tree telling him. Amazing. and now? no tree will ever be the same. Blessings to you as well. ox
What a beautiful Good Friday reflection. I'm having a quiet, satisfying Holy Week. The visit to 7 churches on a Maundy Thursday did me good. Now awaiting Easter to fill my heart with joy and hope as we commemorate the power of Resurrection. Happy Easter Deborah!
Thank you so much for reading! I was so happy to stumble across this dream poem! It's so old and beautiful. The way the poet's dream asks the tree to tell him how it felt. ugh. I had tears.
Seven churches! That is incredible! We have the most beautiful Catholic church on the way to our little church that caused quite the traffic jam! Good to see everyone out to celebrate Jesus' victory! I love this day. We had an incredible gift from God today as our oldest son showed up with his family. We are still a bit speechless. It's been many years and during 2020 he estranged from us suddenly. It was so painful I barely knew what to do with myself. I didn't want to live it hurt so bad. Then my dad was dying and it was a very long sad grief journey. Hence why I am here. The vision I received one morning in May of 2022 . This title of my now Substack. I just kept hearing it and my mom had been telling me to write. To journal. That I needed to do something. Incredible. God is so good. It was a big deal. We had let go and let Him in all things and just kept going and praying for our family.
Thought I would share this with you because there is always so much hope in our family even though it can feel deeply hopeless at times. God loves family. Hope you had a beautiful Easter with your family. oxox
Beautiful message for us all, thanks Deborah. Blessings for this holy weekend… and Happy Easter Day to you and family. Hope there’ll be an egg hunt and maybe chocolate bunnies! 😊🐇
A most beautiful reflection on this Good Friday! I had never heard of this poem, thank you. And to think of being the tree who was v part of the sacrifice…wow. So lovely, Deb. Thank you ❤️
