Thank you so much Mark for taking the time to read this. It's so close to my heart. My dad left an impact in terms of inspiration and living his life his way. As I type this I feel the tears rising. I feel so grateful to have had him as my dad. Love what you're doing with the camera Mark! ox
You are most welcome, Deborah. I really enjoy reading your posts, they are beautifully written. Really appreciate your comments about my photography, thank you.
A quiet mark, a life changing mark that has brought joy to millions. Bravo and cheers to your sweet dad in heaven. He’s smiling down at you ya know! ☺️
Oh how I wish I had five more minutes. I know you relate. ahhh. Thank you so much. Sending you a great big hug. Wish I could have coffee with you! ox (or a cuppa!)
Fascinating history! I screamed the whole time I was on Space Mountain with my kids…now I ponder and wonder how it was built and made such an impact on Disney goers. Love knowing your dad was an important part of engineering these beloved rides! Your parents were very progressive for the times… selling off, saying goodbye, heading off to a brand new land and life! Lucky for us! 😉 You make family stories so interesting, so touching to my heart. Reminding us all that who we are is based on where we came from.
Joan! lol! I can see the screaming! 🙀 I still haven't been and we have plenty of airline miles saved up to do it. If only we could have afforded it when the kids were young - yet we were usually chasing a trip, saving pennies, to get to the Oregon coast to visit my parents. All good.
Dad was so humble about his accomplishments and never took a thing for granted, especially his opportunities here in America. Ordinary people doing extraordinary things. He didn't quite appreciate the self serving overwhelming aspects of social media. The look-at-me stuff. He made a quiet mark and I am eternally grateful for that.
Thank you for your kindness and love. I'm so glad it inspires you. Our stories matter. Please keep telling them. oxox
Incredible story, I ate up every last word. What a magical childhood you must have had growing up with Dad building Disneyland! As a child I do remember the revolving stage show America Sings. It was a free ride. At my high school grad night in 1972 we ride it at like 4 o’clock in the morning and all of us just wanted to fall asleep. Lol. 😆 Not because it was boring or anything but only because it was so late at night and we went on a just to rest our poor tired feet! 👣
Thank you so much Charlotte for taking the time to read this! I long to stand on the cobblestones of Dunmow and breathe in my family heritage.
Too funny about that old GE building, "America Sings," being the one place you could rest after a whole evening of wearing uncomfortable platforms and a leisure suit (with a tie jacket 😭) - my outfit in 1978, 6 years after you! It's exactly what my friends and I did too! I remember proud I felt of my dad saying "he built the old cars."
Thank you for your kindness. It's good to know and appreciate our history ❤️😘
A wonderful journey through your fascinating family history, Deborah. Your dad sounds like he was an amazing man.
