Thank you Trudi! I was looking back today to see how far I’ve come, starting out grief writing and trying to keep my family stories close… and where I am today. I loved what my dad was made of. True grit and determination. He really was so talented and I’m glad I noticed how this was his pure delight and survival. To stay creative.
What a nice surprise to hear from you especially on my birthday! I had to laugh when you mentioned dune buggies and that photo reminded me of one that a college dorm friend had He was going home for Easter break and asked some of us if we would watch his dune buggie that was fashioned from a VW Bug. We told him not to worry and that it would be as safe as if it was in his garage in Florida. It was too. We disassembled it and rebuilt it in his dorm room. You should have seen him come into the hallway in a panic thinking his car had been stolen only to discover it where his bed should have been.
That was a very nice tribute to your father. When I think of my Dad and cars I remember the time I drove him to the hospital in his 65 Olds 88 at 110 miles an hour to deliver a baby. I then sat in the car in the heat for 5 hours for a baby he was told was an emergency birth.
Thanks for letting me know how we can stay in touch. i never would have thought 50 years ago , that I would meet that pretty little blond actress all dressed up and carrying a picnic basket who I saw on TV.
What a lovely surprise to catch you on my writing area! Thank you so much for reading and commenting :) After the interview with Judy, I was so overwhelmed with love and kindness that I tried to write back to everyone and then had to get busy to get out of town. We head very early tomorrow, Sunday, on a road trip home to see my mom and brother (in VERY hot temps! 114 I hear!) Praying!!
Happy belated birthday to you :) Hope you had a pleasant day doing something you love to do. That is a great car story about your friend's dune buggy! ha ha!!! I can just see my dad doing that and then going upsidedown with panic!! You all must have been very good at reassembling!
Thank you. I think of my dad quite often and am more grateful as the time goes by. He left me a richness I can't quite describe -- all out of his passion for music, photography and his never-ending creative spirit. I wrote a story about dad early on, here, and his time at Disney.
Your dad sounded like an amazing man. What a good son to drive him to that emergency delivery! I imagine the after-care of that baby was hours of checking in on his/her health.
I never would have thought over 45 years ago that I'd sit and talk to Judy and meet so many wonderful people like you! Maybe I'll figure out a way to get to a Walton's event and you will too and we will meet! God Bless you Bill! oxox P.S. I am praying for you and your family.
One of the best games EVER!! We must continue it this summer :) I can see dad now talking about the first time he heard a song. The longer he's gone the more I appreciate him. Love you and... thank you brother. ox
I love this so much! Music has the power to transport us back in time like that. I also love the car. Wow. One talented father! ✨

I’ll never forget getting a ride in the “E” 💕
Oh that was a pretty special ride for sure! Another one dad let go of! I think it took a bit longer though! ha ha!
Absolutely loved this ❤❤❤
...and that game tradition we started last Christmas is the best ever!
Dad would have just loved it. His presence is felt for sure ❤🙏
