If you feel it, then you know it. Many of my music interests came from both of you. Loved this read 🙂

Oh my, Deborah! This touches my heart so much. “pursuing and clinging to his music. It carried him and continues to carry him through life. I feel blessed to see this more clearly as we grow old together” Such a beautiful tribute to your husband...your pride, support, sharing his love of music! Thank you for sharing this peek into your lives... your stunning photography too...great shots that carry his dream along! This resonates with me so much as my grandson is pursuing music... his dream, his passion! 🎶🥰 This is so interesting and so well written! Maybe you can record him playing for us??

Awwwe thank you friend for this!! It's so true that music has carried John through his life. He had a hard upbringing. His dad died when he was 15 (his mom was divorced from him) and mom had quite a few marriages. Found himself playing his double bass at his most adored grandfather's funeral at the age of 17. Has been working so hard his whole life and always believes anything is possible. Still works over 40 hrs a week as an electrician.

He entered a band class in Jr High hoping to learn a small instrument and the teacher said all she had was a broken down double bass in the closet. He took it and fixed it up and learned.

Tell your beautiful grandson to never give up! Music can and will take him through his life. All the twists and turns. Keep it near to his heart.

Thank you so much again! Sending you a huge hug. ox

Such lovely photos and words, really makes me think about all of my favorite musicians! I got to see my all time favorite Bryan Ferry live during 50 year Roxy reunion, that was awesome.

Oh my! What a life. All that music. I’ve always wished I could play something well rather than just playing at it for myself. Also I adore singing. Our church choir years ago has the chance to sing background for Kenny Rogers. We couldn’t believe he’d said we were probably all too busy. I think it was around Christmas. It took us a few weeks to recover. We never let him forget it.

Your photos are amazing!

Sandra! thank you! I love how you pursue those harps though! I am always amazed at the musician and singer. I can't believe your choir got to back Kenny Rogers and he figured you'd all be too busy for him??? Stop the baking, shopping and crafting and run! ha ha!! Memories for life!

When John and I met music was our first conversation and I know it will take us to the end. It most definitely saved John. I often look at him and know that he had two choices. To go downhill in his circumstances, as a 17 year old left behind to fend for himself, by a single mom, solely focused on relationships or.. by pursuing and clinging to his music. It carried him and continues to carry him through life. I feel blessed to see this more clearly as we grow old together and all the years of working for our family and other serious responsibilities, distractions. Those pieces are settling into the beautiful puzzle of our life together. ox
