Ahh, the critters we love, and how they teach us how to be human. I have critters—two dogs, I lost a dog once—it was heartbreaking. Animals are Gods gift to remind us to love each other unconditionally. Thanks for sharing this!❤️
They really do teach us if we pay attention how to be loving, kind and patient. We rescue hard animals it seems and losing them is so hard, like you said. They are God's gift to us to remind us about unconditional love in the everyday brokenness of us all. Like my brother always says, "dog is God spelled backwards." Thank you for reading this and for sharing! oxox
I have said it before and I say it again. You have impeccable timing. I was just thinking the other day That I have "cat like" ways and personality. I am verrry independent, (I need no one) and it it fits (or not) I sit. Cats like small boxes to cram themselves in! I love Miss Reese's antics. But hate it for the grand babies that she will not love on them. but Poor you and John! lol. The pouncing story really made me laugh. yep! coffee everywhere and I am sure she acted like YOU did it not her! and it's not sleeping unless you are miserable. I remember older family members saying Don't let the cat near the baby it will steal their breath. Only because My theory is that the cat feels like your breathing is like purring. So they want to be near it as a comfort measure. and the Bread making kneading. usually cats taken too early from mom do that all the time. Growing up we had a Siamese named smokey. My mom was his person. He ran away once. for Months it seemed. and one day he came back. Later we discovered that he liked to sneak in the car if Mom was leaving. and would often get left trying to follow her. Silly cat! My last cat who I "lost" in the divorce was Leon the Criminal kitty. Leon got his name because he could open doors with his paws and break out of cat carriers with ease usually on the way to the Vet in the car, and the rest of the trip was spent with him perched on the drivers head meowing Loudly in protest. It was a sight! they have such comical ways to be so "anti social" read Independent! They do attach to their humans. Leon's sister Inky (a very black cat) was my husbands and she would sit in his lap and drink from his tea glass if you didnt watch her. and hated me with a passion! I got popped every time I dared get close. Thanks for the laughs and Memories. Love you my sweet friend. oxoxoxo
Oh my goodness Linda! ha ha! Driving on the driver's head! Geeze! Your cats sound like my cat rolled into one! It bums me out because we've tried to adopt another cat and tried everything but she won't have it. ugh! I love visiting all the barn kitties near my mom's house where friends have rescue horses. They are all characters like you describe and all so beautiful and unique. Some of the coolest cats I've ever been around. I often tell Reese I'll trade her one day if she doesn't pipe down and buck-up her ideas! lol. and... you're welcome! Love you back! oxox
Yep Greg says I turned him grey but Leon gave him his HUGE bald spot! Oh Adopting cats? here's an adoption story for you! In my early twenties in my first place, I decided I needed non-human company, so I got my first cat as an adult. She was a tabby missing a front leg. I named her Trig it sounded more female than Tripod which was my first idea. Giggle, snicker, snort! She would limp if you fussed at her or if she was being bad. so pitiful...anyway, I was working long hours and she was alone most of the time and while cats are independent. she was sleeping a lot. more than normal so I took her to the vet because i was concerned. He suggested I get another cat as a companion/playmate. So I go to the Humane society and pick out a female tabby kitten thinking Trig would mother it. Took her home and named her Blinky. Of Course Trig didn't and Trig hissed and yowled at her constantly. after a week I woke up to a horrible sounding ruckus in the kitchen, I go check and Trig is sitting in her water dish yowling. I look closer and see a wiggling movement under her and realize she has Blinky pinned face first in the water dish. Trying to drown her I assume. at this point I hollered at her to stop and get off Blinky. she gets up and limps away all indignant Blinky shakes herself and goes after her, She stops, turns (and I braced for round two} but she licks Blinky on the head and nudged her gently and from then on she was her baby. lol I guess she thought if it wont die, I have to keep it. From then on they were besties no more squabbles. Crisis averted! LOL Much love sweet friend. oxoxox
Reese has always been eager to settle on my lap but she doesn't fool me. I've witnessed her nasty streaks. I've seen her up high on a bar stool crouching, claws ready and waiting for unsuspecting, low rider corgi, Jack, to pass by. With a hissing dive and a swipe Reese gets the satisfaction of scaring the daylights out of him. She picks her victims. I've even seen her have the gall to sit and confront 3 large to medium size dogs sitting in a row and shaking while she growls and hisses. They do not dare to advance one inch towards her, yet they could take her out in an instance. They just want to preserve their eyeballs!
Love that crazy little calico. She's perfectly imperfect, just like us humans, lol.
She is the cwaziest of the cwazies! Poor Reese! Oh well, Gigi will soon find out! Trained in a hot second :) love you. ox
