What a beautiful piece full of love, Deborah. I love these tea rituals, and that phrase: “Everyday Amens.” Such a gift. Thank you for sharing this here. 🌸🍵

Awe, thank you so much Trivarna! It was a quick piece that I just had to do! When you wrote about coffee, I knew how I already felt about mum’s tea! Hot, yummy liquid as an amen, a door to so many lovely thoughts and memories. It’s beautiful to know we related in this way. ox

I love this so much! This American friend has so many sweet memories drinking coffee with my mom. You are so lucky to still have your sweet mom! I pray you have hundreds of more cups of tea with her!

Awe, Cindy! We miss you guys so much! Been sick with everything since January! geeze! The tea has been nonstop! ha ha! Sharing a cup of hot coffee, tea with our moms is the best and I am very, very blessed to have her still. I don't take it for granted. I pray the same and can't wait to see her again. We love you guys and really hope to see you soon. oxoxox

I can hear your Nana singing the old popular song now...

I like a nice cup of tea in the morning, just to start the day you see

Then at half past eleven, my idea of heaven is a nice cup of tea

I like a nice cup of tea with my dinner

And a nice cup of tea with my tea

And when i go to bed, there's a lot to be said

For a nice cup of tea

Oh MOM! I forgot about this! I have heard you sing it too! This is the root of the story! I can't wait to have tea with you again! I love you so much mom! Thank you for all the tea and for all you do and have done for us. oxox

Oh, I love this so much, and how the tea connects you to your mum and to past generations. I am a tea drinker, though I don’t know how since no one else in my family is, and I do keep a cup all day long and generally indulge for all the same reasons that your mom does, haha. Lovely story and beautiful pictures, thank you for sharing this meaningful ritual that ties you together ❤️

Thank you so much Jenn! I could just see you sketching a sweet teacup and saucer! I love that you have a cup by your side all day! That's how we roll :) Thank you for reading and sharing. It means so much. Cheers to another cuppa tea!! oxox

I would love to see the photos if you ever do photograph them!

I should have piled them up and photographed them before we moved! I definitely need to find them and look at them again. We had to get a storage unit while fixing up our garage 😏

That would make an awesome picture! And a lovely print to gift to your mom, maybe ☺️

Well I'm looking forward to seeing this sketch! But I bet you have already done one? I used to collect antique teacups and saucers and filled a small cabinet with them in our old home - but there's no room for them in our home now. I boxed them up so carefully - but it's sad they are in storage. I can just see a sketch of them :)

I don’t have any dainty teacups, but I have a few paintings/drawings of cups I use for tea :). I will have to add some dainty ones to my collection sometime. I enjoy the shape and significance of cups. That is too bad all of your antique teacups are packed away, I bet it is a gorgeous collection. I hope you get them out of storage someday soon.

It was so fun to go in antique shops over the years. So many beautiful subjects to sketch and paint in these shops :) I will most definitely get them out, if not to photograph them :)

My mom was a tea totaler as we called it back in the day. Good old Lipton. Soggy tea bags everywhere. Never properly done. And she reused them !! I swear not a drop of water entered her body unless a tea leaf was floating in it. But we never joined her. It was a solitary event. It wasn't an invitation to sit or share a moment ! Your mums tea has purpose, and I love it. No one in my family drinks tea and that's a shame. Cuppa anyone ?? xo

That's hilarious Mary! The annoying tea drinker! ha ha! I don't like the soggy bags staining my kitchen sink! Sometimes the things we do are completely to ourselves and sometimes they are meant for sharing. Mum's definitely serves a purpose! You need to start something I'm thinking? Thank you for this! oxoxox

My mum loved her tea - strong and black, no sugar. She’d let me finish the last drops in her mug when it had cooled off. Hers was Irish tea but still an important ritual. ✨

Trudi! I love that! and we do love the strong Irish tea! Trader Joes out here has a good box of Irish tea I keep buying! In fact I had tea with the grandchildren a few hours ago - their's is decaf and mostly milk :) Thank you for your comment! ox

Oh you reminded me of the tea my maternal grandfather used to make… you could put a teaspoon in it and it would remain upright. Very strong and dark, and no milk. He remained a tea drinker till he transitioned. My Mama was the same, always a cuppa though less strong.

And me? I love my cappuccino in the morning but after that… tea (mainly green tea). ☕️

Joyce! Oh my! a spoon could stand up in it? ha ha! Now that's some kind of strong thick tea your grandfather made! I do drink a cup of coffee in the morning, but whenever I'm sick (like these last few months) I go off coffee all together and just want a good hot cup of tea :) I do love a cappuccino on occasion or a mocha latte at a coffee place - but it's a treat when we are traveling home to see my mum, otherwise it's just too expensive! Thank you for reading and leaving me this great comment! oxox

And of course, as a dear friend always says: ‘at the stroke of three, everything stops for tea’ 🙂
