Deborah, your post today, for Memorial Day touched me deeply. Thank you so much for mentioning my husband, Doug, who was KIA in Vietnam in 1969. There are only a few days a year that I allow myself to take a day to remember and to grieve. It has been 57 years and like your article brought out, the void and the pain of loss still remain. There is no positive to war. Both sides lose in it's losses. Loss is loss whether it's the winner's loss, or the loser's loss. It still cuts to the bone and takes forever, if ever, to settle down enough to accept it. Thank you again, my sweet friend. Your article was perfectly timed and it describes the horrors of war perfectly in photos and your words. Bless you, Deborah.

Deborah, my brother Tom’s death in Vietnam in 1968, sent me on a steep decline that took me decades to pull out of. An Uncle also died on D-Day in Normandy, 1944. Some times I do not like human beings…
